Lewis J Blake ist ein K\u00fcnstler aus England, der aktuell in Graz, \u00d6sterreich, lebt. Lewis studierte Bildende Kunst am Goldsmiths College in London, bevor er vier Jahre als Specialist Painting Assistant f\u00fcr den K\u00fcnstler Damien Hirst t\u00e4tig war. Im Anschluss daran erhielt er seine k\u00fcnstlerische Praxis aufrecht und arbeitete er nebenbei als Techniker. Gegenw\u00e4rtig arbeitet er als freischaffender K\u00fcnstler und malt geometrische und abstrakte Werke, die auf Einfl\u00fcssen architektonischer Formen, imaginierter Monumente, gefundener Objekte und akribischer fotografischer Recherchen beruhen.<\/p>\n

Sein neuestes Werk wurde von den D\u00e4chern der Altstadt von Graz beeinflusst. Dort wohnt und arbeitet Blake seit 2018. Durch die Wahl kr\u00e4ftiger, lebhafter T\u00f6ne, verwandelt er urbane Szenen in Meere farbenfroher Formen.<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr See the Big Picture war es wichtig, mich auf einen Gegenstand zu fokussieren, der meinen gegenw\u00e4rtigen Platz in der Welt reflektiert und nicht etwa meinen Hintergrund beleuchtet. Ich stamme urspr\u00fcnglich aus dem Vereinigten K\u00f6nigreich, habe aber seit 2018 in \u00d6sterreich gearbeitet. Graz hat sich als best\u00e4ndige Quelle der Inspiration f\u00fcr meine Gem\u00e4lde erwiesen und diese Arbeit, Altstadt Rooftops, zeigt eine meiner Lieblingsansichten dieser Stadt; man schaut von der halben H\u00f6he des Schlossbergs auf die Hausd\u00e4cher darunter. Mir gef\u00e4llt vor allem die Anonymit\u00e4t, die der Prozess der Abstraktion dieser Geb\u00e4ude verursacht.
